General Membership Meeting

February 11, 2009

6:30 PM – 8:30 PM

1.         Welcome and Introductions

The meeting attendance list is attached to these minutes.

 

2.         Budget Report

Bill Kremer was not in attendance so a budget report was not provided.

 

3.         EWB International Conference

a.         The EWB International Conference will be held in Milwaukee, WI March 26 through 29, 2009.  Jonathan Jump will be attending the conference, and the chapter will cover the registration fee of $450.  Students from MS&T are also attending and Jonathon will coordinate with them.  Hillary Smith is considering attending the conference as well, she will contact the Executive Committee if she decides to attend the conference.

4.         Rotary Fundraising Update

A list of bid items needs to be developed for the Pimienta as soon as possible and forwarded to Rotary for funding.  Note:  July 2009 starts a new fiscal year for Rotary, and this needs to be taken into consideration as we move forward with the Santa Rita project.

5.         Miscellaneous

a.         The Student Project Funding Form was developed and distributed to SIUE and Washington University representatives.  This form should be completed and forwarded to the Executive Committee for consideration (the Executive Committee meets the last Friday of each month).  Jennifer Meyer will forward the form onto MS&T and University of Missouri EWB student chapters.  The form will also be posted onto the website.

6.         Project Discussion - Pimienta

·         Potential dates of travel are May 10th through May 19th.

·         Several students from SIUE are interested in traveling with the professional chapter.

·         Three areas of priority for the Pimienta project include:

o   Erosion Control (Leads Drew Hess, Hillary Smith, Shane Richardson)

o   Sanitation (Leads Dustin Hill, Melissa Allen, Drew Hess)

o   Water Supply (Leads Jennifer Meyer, Gina Gansmann, Drew Hess)

·         A list of questions was developed which will be forwarded onto Dr. Raul to aid in prioritizing the needs of the community.

·         A list of bid items needs to be developed for Rotary to obtain funding.

·         Matt Volz met with the University of Nebraska Student Chapter faculty advisor on February 9th.  They may want to send students with us to Honduras as their project trip to Madagascar may be cancelled due to travel advisories being issued by the US State Department.

·         The project team will meet on Monday February 23, 2009 at 6:30 pm at the Hartford Coffee Company, all are welcome to attend.
