Meeting Minutes

1.     Jonathan Jump, President, welcomed the group, announced the new officers to the Executive Committee, and introductions were conducted around the room.

2.     Amy Drewing, Treasurer, spoke regarding the chapter budget.  Amy is working with the past treasurer to transition chapter account information over to her.  She did not have a budget report at this time.

3.     Tom Lachajczyk, Fundraising Chair, stated that he has submitted a request to the St. Louis Blues for group tickets to an upcoming game for use as a fundraising event for the chapter.  Tom will notify the chapter when he receives a response from the Blues with details.

4.     Gina Gansmann, Vice President, said that she is looking into setting up a trivia night for February 2010 as a fundraiser for the chapter in conjunction with the SIUE chapter.  The funds raised from this event could be used to supplement travel costs, with Executive Committee approval.  Gina is currently looking for a location to hold this.  She suggested that Honduran made items purchased on the January trip could be raffled at an event of this type.

5.     Matt Volz, Past President, and Jonathan Jump, President, will be attending the EWB Regional Workshop in Ames, IA October 23-25, 2009.  Students from Missouri S&T and Washington University will be going as well.  Matt will be presenting on the chapter’s project in Pimienta.

6.     Rotary funding has been approved for the Pimienta water main installation project.  Members of the chapter are traveling January 3 – 10, 2010 to Pimienta to kick off construction of this project along with members from the local Rotary club as well as the in-country Rotary club.

7.     Jonathan announced that regional elections are coming up (for the newly established Midwest Region of EWB).  Contact Jonathan for further information if you are interested in getting involved with this.  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

8.     The December general meeting is planned to be a fundraising event held potentially at Molly’s in Soulard.  The idea is to have a $10 “cover”/donation that includes appetizers.  Raffle tickets will also be sold. 

9.     The next general membership meeting will be Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at 6:30 pm in the lower level of the Old Rock House.  George John, EDSI, will be the presenter, speaking of his recent charitable work in India.

10.  Robin Shepard, a Chemical Engineer and adjunct professor at Washington University, presented on Washington University’s Peanut Butter Project.  The goal of the project is to influence Haitian economy and infrastructure.
